nknewsorg on "[Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Complex W3 issue with "porous" paywall"

I am the owner of NKNews.org, a North Korea focused news and information website.

We run a paywall at the site which uses a Wordpress plugin called Magic Members. Normally this protects content for member login access in a binary on / off fashion. However, we've coded a mod that introduces a New York Times style "free preview" of 10 free views per month.

The way the mod works is that we track a users IP and drop a cookie off to monitor their activity. They lose access once the cookie and IP count hits ten. We use both methods to prevent clearing cache from resetting their free article views allowance (as you can do with NYT).

A problem right now is the porous paywall seems to be extremely erratic with w3 caching on.

I would like to therefore know, is page / post caching even compatible with our above scenario?

Essentially we want to only serve a cached version of an article if the visitor passes two initial tests > that neither their cookie or IP count is above 10 free views.

Is this doable in W3 settings?
