Latest Version – Cannot Access WP Dashboard while Active

Hi,
I’m having a major problem with the latest update. In short, I can’t access my admin panel, or anything on the back end when W3 is activated. The front end seems OK.

When I try to get to the admin panel, I can log in, but after that I get a message:

There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

Learn more about debugging in WordPress.”

The email I received says:

Howdy!

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, W3 Total Cache.”

For now I have disabled W3 through FTP. I can access everything normally when I do that.

What I’ve tried:

– I’ve tried reinstalling W3, but the same thing happens.

– I’ve tried to rollback to a previous version, but I can’t get that option with the Rollback plugin, but it says there’s no previous versions:
It appears there are no version to select. This is likely due to the plugin author not using tags for their versions and only committing new releases to the repository trunk.
Though I think this might be because I have the plugin disabled by renaming it through my FTP? If that’s the case, then I have no way to try a previous version through the Rollback plugin.

Are there copies of older W3 versions I can download and install manually?

– My debug.log doesn’t show anything related to W3 or Cerber. I don’t see anything that looks like it’s related to the issue. But I’m no expert – I could be missing something.

What did I do when the error happened? (I guess that’s your main question.)

I received an email from my Cerber security plugin saying there were multiple lockouts recently and it gave the IP address of the last lockout. It then gave a link to “view activity for this IP Address”. I clicked it and that’s when everything fell apart. Shortly after, I got the email I mentioned above about my site experiencing a technical issue.

For the record, I disabled Cerber and enabled W3 and the problem was still there. I tried rolling back Cerber to a previous version and enabling W3, but that didn’t help.

The specific error from the wordpress email says it was caught here:
https://outrecording.com/xxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxxxx/admin.php?page=cerber-security&tab=activity&filter_ip=144.76.186.38

That’s the link I clicked right before the problem started. It just takes you to Cerber’s Activity tab of the plugin.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I hope I didn’t write too much or confuse. Please let me know if you need any clarification or additional info.

Opcode: Accelerators

Hi,

Would love to get some explanation on selection and use of PHP accelerators

I run my websites off VPS. My server runs Linux, Apache and PHP 7.3 with Zend Opcache support.
Going through settings of W3 cache, following options for Accelerators are presented (but greyed out):
APC
eAccelerator
XCache
WinCache

APC and eAccelerator are no longer supported as of PHP 5.5, WinCache is not applicable to Linux. Same for Database cache and Object cache (more on object cache later).

Zend Opcache is not even an option (can only select it for Opcode caching). So, the only option I can really use for page cache is disk.

Now, for object cache. I tried to enable it with disk as the only option. In a day, it consumed 20G of disk space! I think there is a need for option where user can select maximum disk usage.

Hi, am having issues on my Shop and product archive pages when I turn lazyload on. The Ajax loaded product images don’t show when you scroll down for more products on those pages.

I had found a similar problem on this forum, but the solution didn’t work for me. So how can I resolve this or maybe it could be a theme issue?

Dear support team,

I started receiving emails by WordPress 3 days ago informing me that my site is experiencing technical issues caused by W3TC. The frontend looks ok, but unfortunately, I can’t log into the admin panel anymore (not even in recovery mode).

The error details:
An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 452 of the file /home/……/plugins/w3-total-cache/Cache_File.php. Error message: Illegal length modifier specified ‘f’ in s[np]printf call

WordPress version 5.4.2
Current theme: Foodie Pro Theme (version 2.1.8)
Current plugin: W3 Total Cache (version 0.14.4)
PHP version 7.3.20

I’d highly appreciate it if you could give me some advice as to how I can move forward to recover my site (and work in the admin panel again).

Thanks a lot and best regards,
Ramona

W3 Total Cache Kills WooCommerce API

It seems that if I install and enable W3 Total Cache, it totally disables the WooCommerce API. If I disable page caching, it works again.

I have REST API set to don’t cache. I have tried adding /wc/w3/ and /wc/w3/* to the “Never” list and no change.

Any ideas?

Everything Worked 100% but now some blocks are not showing up

Hello,

For several years, we have used the W3 Total Cache plugin and have always been very happy with the plugin, which is also why we submitted a 5 Stars review for approx two years ago.

We have a new website where we also are using W3 Total Cache and Cloudflare. Last week we worked quite hard on the boosting and optimization of this website. Saturday lasts week we finalized it and was very happy with the final tests.

Today we test again and are even more pleased because this time, the result is even better. Unfortunately, our enjoyment didn’t last very long because we discover that the website now has some errors that not was there Saturday last week. Since Saturday last week, we have not done any work on the site, so we do not understand what has happened.
Starting over would be very bad as we got it so far. So we hope that W3 Total Cache support will be able to help us in fixing these errors.

The errors are:
1.
We have a video in the header which still is working at Firefox but not at Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

2.
Further down, we have two image blocks from Stackable – they are not showing up anymore.

3.
Then we have three fly-in Split Content block, which flies in one at the time. They are now gone.

4.
The last error is our Join our Newsletter module, which is showing up but not correct.

I hope you will be able to help us out.

Thank you and best regards,
Finn

W3TC produces balnk pages on IIS

Hi – delivering my site from IIS 7. I’d like to use this caching plugin as it appears to be the only one to accommodate IIS specific setting (e.g. WinCache etc).

However, I get some really strange behaviours with its vanilla settings. Following scenario:

I clear the browser cache. I then try to navigate to a page: I get a blank page with the first page load. If I press F5, it then loads instantaneously. Furthermore, once I’ve gone through this, all pages then load fine (on second loading). Also, if I navigate from a ‘working’ (I assume cached) to another ‘non-working’ page then I’m frozen on the original page for a while (i.e. gifs freeze) – then it goes blank.

As I say – these are with vanilla settings. IIS/PHP all set up as you’d expect.

I’d be grateful if you could advise.

Your plugin seems to create files in cache that have 777 permissions. Is there any way to make this more secure, such as 775?

Loading CSS file error

Replies: 2

Hi, I am consistently getting an error on my site after installing your plugin. I created a modular theme where each component e.g. header, includes its own minified CSS file, see function blow in my funcions.php file.

//Render inline css in component
function renderInlineCss($folder, $component){
$dest = get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . ‘/’.$folder.’/’. $component .’/’. $component .’.min.css’;
$css = file_get_contents($dest);
$css = ‘’;
return $css;
}

It’s this function that causes the error and certain parts of the site now can’t find there corresponding CSS files. Everything seems fine when I purge the cache but when I come back to the site I see the errors again. They aren’t consistent and they can be on different pages of the site each time.

I have turned off all minify settings and checked to make sure all other cacheing is remove apart from your plugin.

Cheers,
Tom

W3 Total Cache – RankMath Sitemap – Elementor Issue

Hi Marko,

I’ve been having an issue with my sitemap generated by rankmath as every time I edit anything with elementor (even if I don’t update) my sitemap collapses into a 404 page and I have to flush it again by saving permalinks settings and rankmath sitemap settings.

In addition, I have included the following settings:

/.*sitemap.*
/*sitemap.*
sitemap(_index)?\.xml(\.gz)?
[a-z0-9_\-]*sitemap[a-z0-9_\-]*\.(xml|xsl|html)(\.gz)?

into my “Never cache the following pages”, “Never minify the following pages” and in the “404 exception list” settings of W3 Total cache plugin.

In addition, I also created a page rule with the set up of “Cache: bypass” in CloudFlare CDN as mywebsite/*sitemap*

Finally, I also turned off the AMP caching in the AMP for WP plugin settings; however, the issue persists

PS. I have been trying to find a solution with the rankmath support in this ticket

I paid for the pro version only to use the “Eliminate Render Blocking resources” feature, which is the only thing slowing down my site on Pagespeed.

I use defer before head in the JS Minify settings, as seen here: https://wpvivid.com/eliminate-render-blocking-javascript-css.html

But after toggling on the Eliminate Render and move to http body feature, and waiting for 24 hours now, the issue is still there.

I also noticed my “initial server response time” literally doubled after upgrading to pro. From 0.6s to 1.1s.

Also in the remove unused CSS, this “/**/.mx_image_background{background-color:#f2f2f2} …” started showing after paying for the Pro version.

My point is the Pro version slowed than my site even more, from 85 on mobile to 79. I practically paid for my site to be slower? Please I need a refund. Thanks.

How to purge posts cache in Bulk!

Replies: 1

Hi, I know we can purge cache of individual post by going to each posts but is there any option to tick the selected posts and apply bulk action to purge cache of those posts in bulk, like we do bulk “move to trash” by ticking posts and applying filter.

Or if i have the list of specific URLs and we paste it in there and purge the cache by clicking a button like we do in cloudflare.

Any help would be much appreciated.

www/htdocs/…
Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at …/www/htdocs/…./…/wp-content/object-cache.php:18) in www/htdocs/…/functions php on line 6…

Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /www/htdocs/…./…/wp-content/object-cache.php:18) in /htdocs/…/wp-admin/admin

www/htdocs/…
Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /www/htdocs/…./…/wp-content/object-cache.php:18) in
www/htdocs/…/ misc.php/1..

Was soll ich jetzt tun? Ich bitte um Hilfe, Danke!

Liebe Grüße!

Information
AMP does not allow the use of JS tags unless they are for loading AMP components, which are added automatically by the AMP plugin. For any page to be served as AMP, all invalid script tags must be removed from the page. Instead of custom or third-party JS, please consider using AMP components and functionality such as amp-bind and actions and events (as opposed to JS event handler attributes like onclick). Some custom JS can be added if encapsulated in the amp-script. Learn more about how AMP works.

If all invalid markup is “removed” the page will be served as AMP. However, the impact that the removal has on the page must be assessed to determine if the result is acceptable. If any invalid markup is “kept” then the page will not be served as AMP.

Hi,
We are using Bitnami WordPress server with WP 5.5, and PHP 7.4.7 (released in JULY 2020)
Currently, we are seeing many warnings/errors as below (Proxy fcgi error) in our Bitnami Apache error logs.
We want to know the reason we are getting this warning/error, as the plugin is working as it should in the WordPress website.
Below is the error-
