2.7.3 Filesize

  • Version 2.7.3 has a zipped filesize of 26.9MB compared to 2.7.2 6.6MB.
  • Unzipped 2.7.3 105.7MB compared to 2.7.2 36.6MB.
  • v2.7.3 adds a 44.8MB codecov file and size of vendor folder is doubled up to 46.5MB

In conclusion, this blow up the backup filesize for a small sites which has previous 30MB and now round about 140MB, because W3 total cache’s filesize is much more bigger than a default WordPress. Why is that needed?

W3 Total Cache Error blocking wp-admin login

Hi there,

We have been having some trouble with our site following an upgrade to a new theme (Issue.) Initially we believed it to be the white screen of death so we deactivated all plugins and tripped our security plugin Really Simple SSL. I went in to the host via FileZilla and was able to move that plugin but am now receiving the following error when I access the /wp-admin page.

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home1/waebb20abuoi/public_html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.” Believing it is from the deactivated plugin W3 Total Cache.

I am unsure of how to remove this plugin without simply deleting it from FileZilla and worry that will continue to block the access. Any next steps are appreciated as I would love to just be able to log back on and reactivate everything at this point.

The blog I need help with is: scadradioorg.wordpress.com

“codecov” file suddenly appeared in muliple sites

Hello guys, today ImunifyAV, the server antivirus on cPanel environments, started yelling that every w3-total-cache installation in the server has a 45 MB allegedly compromised file named “codecov”. I can tell from the downloadable zip in the WP repo that this file does not come with the plugin. But it’s very strange that it appeared suddenly, on very different servers, on very different WordPress websites.
After scanning every file of the plugin, I found references to Code Coverage, so I guess you are using the Codecov library (https://about.codecov.io/), right? By viewing the content of “codecov” file I can see it’s a binary file.

Anyway… is this a bug, a false positive, or does it really really happen to be an actual threat? Can you investigate it and provide an outcome please?

Thanks in advance. Regards,
Marcelo

CSS Issues with Elementor Pages After Installing W3 Total Cache

I am experiencing an issue with CSS on some of my Elementor-created pages after installing W3 Total Cache. The pages at the following URL look strange because the CSS is not being applied: https://lihi.cc/2jHFv.

Older pages are displaying correctly, but newly created pages are having this problem. I have disabled all plugins and reactivated them one by one, and I have determined that W3 Total Cache is causing this issue.

Could you please assist me in resolving this problem? Any guidance or steps to correct this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help.

Here is a screenshot of my W3 Total Cache settings:

Hello,

I saw that you resolved that error in past, (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/redis-issue-on-php-8/) but is present in my site:

The plugin version is the latest.

The error, detected with query monitor, is not relevant, but I think the report is useful for improving the plugin.

Best regards.

lazyload.min.js error

Hi, for some reason the top menu stops working on this particular page of my website; after a reddit post i’ve been told that’s related to console errors regarding js minifying for this page.
Here’s the errors:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 () 93cf3.js

The resource https://www.duneebike.eu/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/pub/js/lazyload.min.js was preloaded using link preload but not used within a few seconds from the window’s load event. Please make sure it has an appropriate as value and it is preloaded intentionally.

After updating the Plugin to version 2.7.3

Hello,

After updating the Plugin to version 2.7.3, we identified that CSP releases were necessary (script-src-elem → *.amazonaws.com, default-src → *.mailchimp.com .amazonaws.com), as well as changes to the IAM user (“Action”: “s3:ListAllMyBuckets”, “Resource”: “arn:aws:s3:::“). This IAM release allows listing all buckets associated with the account. We understand that this is unnecessary since there is the possibility of creating a bucket – provided there is permission – via a click or possible manual creation directly in S3. We interpret that this release poses critical security vulnerabilities to the environment due to bucket listing.

We would like to understand the real need for this type of release or, if possible, receive guidance on how the plugin can function with less permissive releases.

We await a prompt response.

Changing variation stock does not flush cache

Hello,

When one changes the stock of a variation and clicks the “Save changes” in the WooCommerce Variations tab, then the product cache is not flushed.
If the main post/product “Update” button is clicked, then the cache is flushed and the change appears in the frontend.

It seems that this is quite an old issue, e.g. here and here and there are some proposed solutions, like flushing everything:

add_action( 'woocommerce_product_set_stock', 'w3tc_flush_all_custom', 999 );
add_action( 'woocommerce_variation_set_stock', 'w3tc_flush_all_custom', 999 );

function w3tc_flush_all_custom() {
w3tc_flush_all();
}

Or even better, fine tune it, in order to only flush the specific product.

How is this still an issue? It seems a pretty basic bug, for it to be alive for such a long time.

Any plans of getting it fixed in next versions?

Thank you and keep up the good work!

Can you help with inproper alignment?

Here is the issue:

I’m using Paid Memberships Pro and if you’re not a member, it displays a ‘Join Now’ message

to restrict you from entering the site. Only paid members are allowed to the site.

Unfortunately, the message aligns to the left of the screen. I tried using a CSS style to center it on the page. The result is sometimes it centers it and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s hit or miss!

The styling in CSS is:

.centered-content {  text-align: center !important;  font-size: 2rem !important;  margin: 20px auto !important;}

The html code snippet is

<div class="centered-content">
This content is for !!levels!! members only.<br />
<a href="!!levels_page_url!!">Join Now</a>
</div>

To me, it sounds like a caching issue of some sort. I downloaded your product, but I don’t know which settings to use to empty the cache that maybe causing the problem. Can you provide some guidance on how to troubleshoot my issue? I’m not sure if it’s a brower, server-side, cdn caching issue.

Thanks,

Ron

First point of interaction on website is slow but then very fast afterwards

Hello, hope everyone is well.

So after installing the W3 Total cache plugin, I followed the step-by-step guide on all the configurations. I did notice a dramatic increase in speed and performance, but have also noticed one re-occurring detail:

Every time you go on the website, no matter what you click on as the first point of interaction (whether it’s a link on the home page or an option from the menu), it’s always quite slow to load. But then afterwards, anything you click on is very fast.

This concerns me as even though the overall performance has increased, the first point of accessing anything is slow and doesn’t add to the user experience. I disabled Object Caching as I read that it can slow down the website, but would it be worth enabling it again and testing it? Has anyone found that Object caching can be problematic?

Is there any way I can find out exactly which type of configuration/caching is causing the slow loading speed of the “first point of interaction”? Or is this to be expected when using a caching plugin?

Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

I’ve been experimenting with Total Cache using the Cloudflare extension.

Can you give me some clues about how to activate this feature, as it looks like it could be very useful.

Replicate cache purge on multiple backends

Hello,

Following the thread at https://wordpress.org/support/topic/can-page-caching-work-across-load-balanced-servers/

We have the same problem: we have 2 backends, each with its own Redis. We need to replicate the cache purges on each backend.

Does this issue have some update as of today ?

If not, you talked about “creating a custom plugin that will call the cache purge across all servers once the purge is called”. I think we can do that, how would you start ? How to catch the purge orders efficiently ?

Thank you very much !
