This worked for me: just remove the files/folders:

- File: /wp-content/advanced-cache.php
- Folder: /wp-content/cache/

And try again. It will skip the missing function and install the correct files/folder for you.

Hi – I am using amazon cloudfront along with CNAME & wordpress w3 total cache and everything is working fine -

1. mydomain.com (Main Site)
2. cdn.mydomain.com (CloudFront)
Both the versions are fully functional. Since it might create duplicate content issue on google search i just want to load image/js files from the cdn.mydomain.com and not the entire site from cdn.mydomain.com.

Is there a way to handle this? Temporarily i have used rel=canonical which will prevent duplicate issue.

Please let me know

sedevelops on "[Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Page Cache: General Options - don't cache for user checkbox priorities...."

This question is for anyone in the know on this, or for the mighty Frederick, if he should happen upon this question and have time for such fluff.

There are two (sweet) checkbox options on the Page Cache settings page within the General Options section that allow for per-user-role caching.

Don't cache pages for logged in users
Unauthenticated users may view a cached version of the last authenticated user's view of a given page. Disabling this option is not recommended.

AND

Don't cache pages for following user roles
Select user roles that should not receive cached pages:

  • Administrator
  • Author
  • Editor
  • Custom User Role 1
  • Custom User Role 2

The subtext for the first option helpfully explains a possible use problem for operating without the option checked. It indicates that a not-logged-in user might end up receiving a cached page which was generated by an authenticated user and thus reflects the privileged view that say the administrator had when last they viewed that page and triggered a new caching.

As this is a scenario I wish to avoid I will leave this option checked.

My question is, how does the next option (Don't cache pages for following user roles) affect the the previous one ( Don't cache pages for logged in users ).

If both options are checked, and let's say that the user role "Administrator" is checked for cache exemption, will this allow the plugin to smartly avoid producing a static cached page from the administrator's viewing of a public page?

In other words, does enabling this second option for particular roles essentially avoid the issue explained in the subtext of the first option by never generating the static cache page during a 'bypassed' user role's visit?

I got exactly the same problem.

Images that I upload right now are not shown on the my website also.

When I go to the url of the image I must fill in a captcha on the MaxCDN site which leads to... nothing!

I can keep filling in the box but nothing happens.

Edit file /home/xxxxxx/public_html/.htaccess and remove all lines between and including # BEGIN W3TC Page Cache and # END W3TC Page Cache markers.

I get the error above, but somehow when I check htaccess, the files do not exist. I made sure with my host and they cant see any errors popping up in error log either.

Any help on this?

When the Page cache method "Disk: enhanced" is chosen the blog won't be rendered in Firefox – only empty head and body tags. In all other browsers like Safari or Chrome there're no issues. When the basic ache method is chosen everything is fine.

Same thing here. I tried Cloudfront, and W3 Total Cache kept giving me the ERROR: Empty Access Key. That was really strange, because it didn't have any trouble accessing my account and creating the distribution. Even tried opening a new AWS account, but still had the same issue.

So, I signed up for MaxCDN, and I get ERROR: Empty hostname. Using the latest WP 3.6 and latest W3 Total Cache.

It has done more bad than good to some servers of ours.

Basically there's an high chance the minify will screw your blog over.

Even emptying the caches, v 0.9.3 may cause jquery to not get loaded and affect the rendering. Those with responsive themes like Montezuma basically get a blank page (content is still there, if you select you see the writings are still there, just white on white).
Disabling minify immediately restores the website.

Another issue comes directly in the minify window. Some options that may be disabled, return enabled after you save the settings. Furthermore, invoking the helper popup to get the list of minification candidates (JS and CSS) usually results in it being showed for 2-3 second and then a redirect to... nothing. W3TC just hangs and stays stuck till you load another page.

Anyone experiencing these issues should revert to 0.9.2.11: that one works much better.

james@imajery.com on "[Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Bug with w3tc cdn urls when using wpml"

CDN urls produced by W3TC when using WPML are incorrect for non-default languages.

Effectively the localized home url is appended to the cdn url:
http://cdn.domain.comhttp://www.domain.com/path/to/resource

This occurs in /inc/define.php, w3_filename_to_url(). The problem is solved by replacing the call to w3_get_home_url() with w3_get_site_url() on line 134, i.e. using the non-localized site url instead of the localized home url. This fix assumes that resources are not localized via their url formats, which is how I have observed WPML to work.

It would be great to see this fix, if approved, in one of the next releases so I can easily update. Thanks!

Me too. Mine had no problem with the test until updating to the new W3 Total Cache. Now I get a red box containing "Error: Empty hostname".

Wish we didn't have this problem, but glad that it's likely not our configuration(s).

We are also running WP 3.6 and the latest version of W3 Total Cache v0.9.3

Hi all,

Just tried to download this W3 total cache and upon activation I received the following error:

Call to undefined function w3tc_button_link() in /home/heathwood/heathwoodpress.com/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/GenericAdminEnvironment.php on line 99

Any suggestions?

Thanks kindly

I had this issue, fixed it by updating the account email address and Cloudflare API Key field.

Do you have to delete 0.9.3? If so will it retain settings when reverting to 0.9.2.11?

I have just updated W3TC to the latest version and while everything appears to be running fine, I get an odd error when I test the Cloudfront distribution using the button in the "Configuration" section of the CDN sub-section on the dashboard.

When I test it gives the error "Empty Access Key", despite working fine before and even when I try a different access key and secret key I still have the same problem.

However, when I check files and images on my site I can clearly see that they are being served correctly from the CDN. Perhaps it is the error message at fault as everything else seems to be functioning perfectly.

Anyone else with a similar issue or fix?
(There is a tread for issues with MAXCDN as well:

with some people reporting a similar issue)

I exported the settings just in case, then downgraded.

The downgrade retained the settings.
